UpTime® follows Gripen Fighter Aircraft to the Czech Republic
Press Release – December 1, 2006
Sörman Information AB has signed a long-term agreement with FMV to carry out technological transfer to the Czech Republic as a part of the sale/lease of the Gripen multi-role aircraft. For a period of ten years, the Czech Republic is leasing 12 single-seater and 2 two-seater aircraft of the latest Gripen versions JAS 39 C/D.
FMV is the contractual party on the Swedish side. More information about the Gripen deal is available at the FMV homepage www.fmv.se.
Included in the sale/lease of the Gripen aircraft is a comprehensive program for technology transfer between Sweden and the Czech Republic. A major part of this program is the transfer of knowledge about the international standard for technical information S1000D that serves as the base for the Gripen documentation. Sörman Information AB, together with FMV and Saab Aerotech, has had a leading role in the international development of S1000D. Based on this expertise and the expressed interest of the Czech Republic regarding S1000D, an extensive and customized training package will be implemented in the Czech Republic. That package includes training at several levels, from the upper operational management levels to technical writers. Processes, methods, business rules, and application of the S1000D to Czech circumstances will be developed in parallel with the training program. Altogether, the program will make the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic well prepared to use and maintain S1000D-based information. The deal also includes the installation and local adaptation of a complete system support for the S1000D. That support is a vital part of the pilot project that is to be applied within the scope of the commitment.
“We are very proud of this recognition and are looking forward to applying our unique competence in S1000D. In particular, we appreciate that this is another application of our world leading system UpTime® S1000D for enhanced processing. We are convinced that this approach will increase the overall efficiency during the production, use and maintenance of technical information for the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic. The adoption of the standard S1000D also streamlines the possibilities for future international co-operations of the Czech Armed Forces. The present deal for the Gripen is a result of a long-term and successful co-operation between FMV, Saab Aerotech, and Sörman Information AB” says Jan Hansson, Executive Vice President of Sörman Information AB.
